There are some fundamental boxes that your reporting system must tick.
✅ The figures must be accurate
A good reporting solution can be trusted. A bad one causes confusion and leads to people looking for answers elsewhere.
✅ The system has to be responsive
Nobody wants to wait. With a well-designed reporting model and the right technology your reports and dashboards should fly.
✅ Data must be updated in a timely fashion
Chances are your users don’t want to be looking at data that’s a month out of date. A good reporting solution will have the data ready for you when you need it, whether that’s at the start of each business day or keeping you up to date in real-time.
✅ It has to be reliable
You shouldn’t have to make excuses for your solution. Everything needs looking after from time to time, but if your solution is forever falling over or requires constant hand holding then something needs to change.
✅ Users must be able to find what they’re looking for
Users shouldn’t feel hamstrung by the reporting solution. If it’s only telling part of the story then it’s usefulness and use cases are limited, and again people will go in search of answers elsewhere.
Is your reporting system ticking all the boxes?
